ACHD asks for public's help in keeping storm drains clear

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) In anticipation of more wet weather the rest of this weekend and throughout the next week, the Ada County Highway District is asking residents and neighborhoods to do their part to help keep storm drains in their area free of debris.

In anticipation of more wet weather the rest of this weekend and throughout the next week, the Ada County Highway District is asking residents and neighborhoods to do their part to help keep storm drains in their area free of debris.

Storm drains help funnel stormwater runoff into the water system. That means leaves, grass, and other debris clog storm drains, which can cause localized flooding.

"ACHD is asking that everyone please check your storm drain to make sure it's cleared of debris. If it isn't, simply take a rake and remove the leaves, etc. away from the drain so that water can freely make its way to the drain. Do not remove the grate," a spokesperson for ACHD said.
