Blaine County officials say a caretaker at the residence between Hailey and Ketchum reported a suspected explosive at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The Twin Falls bomb squad arrived at about 8 p.m., X-rayed and neutralized the device. Officials say the bomb contained projectiles that would increase its destructive force in an explosion.
Sheriff Gene Ramsey said it was not a pressure-cooker type device, as was used in the Boston Marathon bombings. He declined to release further information because he didn't want to jeopardize the investigation.
Anyone with information about the homemade bomb is asked to contact the sheriff's office at 208-788-5555.
