Joe Rogan recently did a podcast centering around UFC 294 with Brendan Schaub, Eddie Bravo, and Bryan Callen. During the conversation with the guest, Rogan delved into the top of the USADA-UFC split. As expected, the name of Conor McGregor popped up and Rogan had his opinion on Conor McGregor‘s alleged steroid use.
Rogan was of the opinion that the USADA bamboozled Dana White. Moreover, the UFC commentator also defended the former two-division champion, Conor McGregor. This is what Rogan said about McGregor:
Conor McGregor entered into the USADA pool and supplied two tests so far, so what they said was wrong. He's not on anything. He's clean. They tested him.
USADA won’t be the official ant-doping partner of the UFC from 2024. Drug-Free Sports International is the new anti-doping partner of the promotion. George Piro was appointed as the official having an independent charge of running the program.
Jeff Novitzky and Hunter Campbell in a joint press conference had already broken the news. Novitzky and Campbell were actually responding to the statement put out by the USADA CEO, Travis Tygart which painted the UFC in a bad light and even used Conor McGregor as a scapegoat.
Conor McGregor is presumed to make his comeback at UFC 300 against Michael Chandler. Chandler and McGregor were rival coaches at TUF 31. Interestingly, the news about the USADA-UFC split broke days after Conor McGregor announced his presence in the USADA testing pool. McGregor has not fought since July 2021 after the unfortunate leg break he suffered at UFC 264 against Dustin Poirier.
Joe Rogan bashes USADA for their treatment of Jiri Prochazka
In the recent fight companion on JRE, Joe Rogan and his friends watched UFC 294, but also delved into the topic of the UFC-USADA split. Rogan and Brendan Schaub were of the opinion that the way USADA dealt with the situation was dirty. Rogan and others debated who was the most tested athlete of the UFC. They were of the opinion that it was either Paulo Costa or Conor McGregor.
However, they were surprised to know that it was Jiri Prochazka was the most-tested athlete with 64 tests in 2022. Rogan was visibly surprised about it. This is what Rogan said about Prochazka being the most tested:
Wow, so he's the most tested. I mean, I don't know why. I wonder why they tested him.
Moreover, Schaub pointed out the fact that the USADA is not the apt partner for a sport like MMA. Rogan seconded that and talked about incidents where the USADA took samples from fighters on the morning of weigh-ins.
