Idaho ranks 26th most expensive state for groceries, according to a new study

Boise, ID (CBS2) According to a recent food cost study done by Help Advisor Idaho ranked 26 most expensive state to buy groceries. The study found that the average U.S. household spends around $270.21 per week on groceries. A four-person household spends an average of $315.22 and a household with kids spends around $331.94

According to a recent food cost study done by Help Advisor Idaho ranked 26 most expensive state to buy groceries.

The study found that the average U.S. household spends around $270.21 per week on groceries. A four-person household spends an average of $315.22 and a household with kids spends around $331.94 which is 41 percent more than a household without kids.

The states that spend the most on groceries each week are California, Nevada, Mississippi, Washington, and Florida.

The states that spend the least each week on groceries are Wisconsin, Iowa, and Nebraska.

Idaho falls in the middle with a weekly average of $257.54 spent on groceries.

The study looked at demographics such as income, whether or not the household has a person with a disability, military status, if the household is receiving government assistance, education level, and race and ethnicity.
