Kemi Olunloyo Biography

Kemi Olunloyo was born into the family of Victor Omololu Olunloyo, a former Governor of Oyo State, and his wife, Funlayo Olunloyo, on August 6, 1964.

She was born into a wealthy family and spent only 14 years in Nigeria, 20 in the US, and five in Canada, living most of her early years outside of Nigeria before she finally returned to Nigeria.

Career

Kemi Olunloyo has appeared as a guest speaker on programs including CBC News, Ruptly, CTV News, BBC, and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) to talk about terrorism and health-related issues. 

She served on the Kingston General Hospital Governor’s Advisory Council in Kingston, Ontario, in 2010. She also temporarily worked for the Nigerian Tribune as an entertainment journalist.

While in Canada, she campaigned against gun violence. She published the names and images of the men in 2014 who had exposed themselves on social media and asked for sex. She was consequently one of the top three finalists for Africa’s Social Media Influencer of the Year at the Social Media Awards. She has a pharmacy degree and worked as a pharmacist for 30 years until retiring in 2019.

Dr. Olunloyo is well-known for her controversial social media statements, which have ranged from her theological views to criticism of several popular men of God.

In 2003, she created a Facebook account and started criticizing Nigerian celebs. In March 2017, Kemi Olunloyo claimed David Ibiyeomie was her sugar daddy and that they were having an affair with Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo. Olunloyo was then detained for defamation and had her bail denied. Ibiyeomie vehemently refuted the claim.

She claimed that Angela Okorie, a Nollywood actress, was a prostitute. She added that Yahya Jammeh, the former president of the Gambia, had stolen $11 million, of which Angela had received $1.5 million. An argument resulted from this outburst, and Angela threatened legal action. 

She also attacked Olajumoke Orisaguna. She claimed that Olajumoke couldn’t speak English and had dropped out of primary school, saying that the former bread vendor turned model is neither an idol nor a role model. She stated that Olajumoke might resume hawking at some point.

Human rights attorney Femi Falana (SAN) requested in December 2021 that the deputy commissioner of the Lagos police command invite controversial blogger Kemi Olunloyo due to a statement she made on the passing of 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni Jnr. 

 When one of Sylvester’s relatives posted about his death on the microblogging site Twitter, the story caused widespread indignation. 

Olunloyo reiterated that Sylvester Oromoni, who passed away in questionable circumstances at Dowen College, voluntarily wanted to join the boy’s gang and drank engine oil. She did so via an audiotape. 

Nigerians were outraged by her remark and denounced her for speaking ill of the deceased, who could not defend himself.

On September 27, 2022, Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar came under fire from renowned investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo for her affiliation with Apostle Johnson Suleman, a controversial Nigerian cleric. 

Remember that Halima has been openly discussing her alleged extramarital romance with Suleman over the past few weeks and attributing her poor health to him. In a new development, Suleman has been warned by Halima’s family via her social media account that nothing should happen to the actress, who they claimed had been ill for four years.

Kemi Olunloyo asked the actress to quit blaming Suleman for her health problems in an Instagram post uploaded in response to the social media callouts. She asserts that Halima should focus on improving her health by seeing doctors and specialists rather than criticizing coworkers and lovers on social media because she knows her body physiology.

In a tweet on social media in November 2022, Kemi Olunloyo sparked responses from internet users as she commented on the untimely death of Davido‘s son Ifeanyi. 

In a recent post published on her official Instagram page, Kemi Olunloyo claimed that the deaths in Davido’s life are due to a generational curse known as “The Adeleke Curse” that has been placed on the singer’s family.

Canada Border Services Agency officers detained Omololu-Olunloyo in her Toronto condominium in August 2012. She was held at the Vanier Centre for Women for seven days before being sent back to Nigeria after being deemed a flight risk after her refugee status was not renewed.
