In an interview with WhoWhatWear.com, Dobrev talked about her wellness secrets and favorite products. She said that one of her favorite ways of working out is doing Pilates. Dobrev also says that she likes to do Pilates at both a studio, at home, or do a virtual session with a trainer. "I love Pilates. It makes me feel so good. I go to a studio and/or I have a reformer at home and zoom with my private instructor." "A Pilates class will strengthen your core muscles–abdominal and spinal. This will improve your balance and coordination, as well as, your posture. Having a strong core improves every move you make because all movements start from the body's core. Pilates classes can help to relieve back pain and prevent injury. Exercises are performed laying on your back, your stomach, your side and also seated. The instructor monitors your form for proper alignment and technique," says the Mayo Clinic.
When you're on social media, there's a lot of pressure to exaggerate your actual life, and hide the struggles you're going through. However, Dobrev says that she doesn't take that approach. "It's a constant struggle between Instagram life and personal life," she said to Well+Good.com. "You've got to have other things going on. If not, you'll start living a dull, monotonous life. I want to live life, feel inspired and be genuine. At one point, everything was a filter—it's not a good message. It's important to show the real side of being human and not the highlight real."
Dobrev tells Well+Good.com that she loves drinking juices and protein shakes with different powders and ingredients. She says that she loves to make juices whenever she's not feeling all that well, and doesn't really care what she puts in them. "When I'm sick or not feeling great, I'm all about the juices," says Dobrev. "It seems like the worse the taste, the better it is for you, so I do ginger, garlic, cayenne pepper, oregano oil—ugh, double ugh— lemon, everything."
Dobrev tells Well+Good.com that she takes her sleep seriously. She says that she even uses white noise apps to help her sleep better. "No product is going to replace sleep—if you don't rest, those dark circles are not going to go away," says Dobrev. "I use a sound machine app on my phone called White Noise. I sleep so much better with it, especially when I travel."
Dobrev's trainer, Emily Samuel, revealed to SELF that the actress loves to use resistance bands when she works out. "Resistance bands are absolutely incredible," says Samuel. "They help you get faster and be more explosive." Samuel posted this video on Instagram of Dobrev using a resistance band while running on the treadmill.
