Tips and Examples to Guardian Spirit Swap

Introduction

When you swap your guardian spirit, you see a radial gauge being processed around of the guardian spirit icon. This means only you can’t Yokai shift (Y+B). All options from guardian spirit and soulcores immediately applied. I will show you a good example.

Swapping for Attack / Defense Multiplier

Every guardian spirit has each different Attack / Defense multipliers.

Usage – Swap to the secondary when you are attacking. Swap back to the primary when you are not attacking.

It’s good with a type of weapon that you don’t get hit while you’re attacking (Sword). Not a good idea when a mid-attack damage reduction option is necessary because of while you’re attacking you don’t get any defensive bonus. (Ex. Odachi / Spilitstaff)

  • Primal Guardian spirit – Genbu Attack 0.8 / Defense 1.25
  • Secondary Guardian spirit – Atlas Bear Attack 1.15 / Defense 0.82

Soul Cores

Primary – Shinroku

  • Yasha – Defense 66 / Yokai Ability Damage
  • Shuten-Doji – Defense 66 / Attunement -1
  • Ippon-Datara – Defense 66 / Increased attack (Yokai ability Hit)

    • Secondary – Atlas Bear

  • Itsumade – Attack 66 / Sentience 29.8
  • Nuppepo – Attack 66 / Melee damage (Awakened weapon)
  • Namahage – Attack 66 / Luck

    • Swapping for Soulcore Yokai Ablilities

    Example 1 – The secondary soulcore’s option will be applied on the primary soulcore’s yokai ability.

    Primary Guardian spirit (Any)

    • RT+Y – Ippon-Datara – Any kind of bad unnecessary options

    Secondary Guardian spirit (Any)

    • RT+Y – Any kind of soul cores – Attack increase (Yokai ability hit) / Defense increase (Yokai ability hit)

    Usage Example 1 (Yokai ability hit)

  • Press RT + Y (Ippon-Datara).
  • Immediately swap your guardian spirit before the Yokai ability hit.
  • You will get Attack increase (Yokai ability hit) / Defense increase (Yokai ability hit) while you’re using Ippon-Datara even your Ippon-Datara doesn’t have these options.

    • Even you have really bad options in your Ippon-Datara, if you swap to the secondary soul core, the secondary soul core’s option will be applied.

    Example 2 – You can use the damage increased options for all 6 soul core’s yokai ability.

    Primary Guardian spirit (Any)

  • RT+Y – Ippon-Datara – Any kind of options
  • RT+X – Bakegani – Any kind of options
  • RT+A – Shuten-Doge – Any kind of options

    • Secondary Guardian spirit (Any)

  • RT+Y – Gozuki (Phantom) – Yokai Ability Damage (All) 21.5% / Yokai Ability Damage (This) 26.5% or Yokai Ablilty Damage (Phantom) 14.2%
  • RY+X – Uminyudo (Phantom) – Yokai Ability Damage (All) 21.5% / Yokai Ability Damage (This) 26.5% or Yokai Ablilty Damage (Phantom) 14.2%
  • RT+A – Kasha (Phantom) – Yokai Ability Damage (All) 21.5% / Yokai Ability Damage (This) 26.5% or Yokai Ablilty Damage (Phantom) 14.2%

    • Usage Example 2 (Yokai ability damage increase)

    • The secondary soulcore’s option will be applied on the primary soulcore’s yokai ability.
    • You can use up to 6 yokai abilities with the maximum damage increased

    Case 1 – Using Primary guardian spirit’s yokai abilities

  • RT+Y,X,A – Any kind of what you want from the primary guardian spirit.
  • Immediately swap your guardian spirit before the Yokai ability hit.
  • Don’t swap back until your yokai ability is done.
  • Swap back to your primary guardian spirit.

    • Case 2 – Using Secondary guardian spirit’s yokai abilities

  • Swap your guardian spirit to the secondary guardian spirit.
  • RT+Y,X,A – Any kind of what you want from the secondary guardian spirit.
  • Don’t swap back until your yokai ability is done.
  • Swap back to your primary guardian spirit.

    • I’m not sure you can have all Yokai Ability Damage (All) 21.5% / Yokai Ability Damage (This) 26.5% / Yokai Ablilty Damage (Phantom) 14.2%. If you can have 3 of this 3. It will be 64.5% + 79.5% + 42.6%. I have seen only Yokai Ability Damage (All) 21.5% + Yokai Ablilty Damage (Phantom) 14.2%. Not all 3 of them in one soul cores. I think Yokai Ability Damage (All) and Yokai Ability Damage (This) shares a same pool.

    Swapping for Item Using (Medicine etcs..)

    Example. Primary (Any kind of) Secondary (Amabie)

    You can have a protection buff (+1k HP) everytime when you use your medicien. Also it will dispel all kind of ailments.

    Usage – When you need to use the medicine

  • Swap to the Secondary “Amabie”.
  • Use medicine.
  • Wait until you see the protection spell applied (If you swap back too fast it won’t be applied. you must wait until you finish your medicine consuming motion).
  • Swap back to the primary guardian spirits.

    • You can use this idea for Primary (Any) / Secondary (Yatagarasu) but a fire enchantment on your ranged weapon.

    Swapping for the 12% Defense Buff

    Note: You must have equipped “Water buffalo horn helmet” + Ultimate Constitution 150 and +150 constitution.

    • Primary Guardian spirit – Any guardian spirits but no Life+ options.
      Soul cores – Any soul-cores but no Life+ options.
    • Secondary Guardian spirit – Any guardian spirits.
      Soul cores – Life+ options (Nuppeppo or etcs..)
  • Swap to the Secondary guardian spirit.
  • You max health will be increased 200~.
  • Your Ultimate Constitution will heal you immediately.
  • Water buffalo horn helmet’s 12% damage reduction will be applied immediately.
  • Swap back to the Primary guardian spirit.
  • You can do this whenever you want.
  • Swapping for Guardian spirit skills / Elements / Yokai Bursts

    • This is very common idea therefore I won’t mention that much.

    You can swap for two different guardian spirit skills.

    • Genbu has a good immediate stun abillity, while the Blue dragon has a good counter stun ability.
      If you mix these two, you can double stun your target.
    • You can mix two different elements for the confusion debuff (Lightning / Water , Pufify / Fire etcs..).
    • You can use Two of the Brute / Phantom / Feral Burst counter by swapping your guardian spirits.
