As the action in MLB season continues to unfold, the pressure has increased on teams. With the sport now about to enter its final stretch, players, managers, and teams are keen on delivering good performances to help their team. There was a hotly contested match between the Boston Red Sox and the Houston Astros on Tuesday. In this match, pitcher Justin Verlander was seen having a go at the Red Sox manager, Alex Cora.

Verlander is now back at the Astros following his trade from the NY Mets and was taking his place at the mound. In the second inning, he encountered some difficulty with his PitchCom device. As a result of this, he was having a conversation with the umpires and trying to get them replaced. Cora thought that Verlander should be punished for time wasting and being charged with a ball. This is because of the new pitch clock rule, which if violated, charges the batter or pitcher for time wasting.

Cora would step on the field and argue with the umpire. He was visibly unpleased with the actions of Verlander and claimed they should have got an automatic “ball” call in their favor. Cora later accused the 2022 Cy Young Award winner. It was something that Verlander did not appreciate from the Red Sox coach.

“I didn’t shake that at-bat. F**k off, Alex,” Verlander said in his remark against Cora. He would finish the game with nine strikeouts in his six-inning effort. The former Mets ace did not allow a single run through his five hits, showing signs of recovery.

Alex Cora ejected after multiple interactions with umpire

Boston Red Sox manager, Alex Cora has been a highly animated figure in MLB this year. The 47-year-old was ejected a few games back for his antics on the field. He was once again having a bad day as he continued to rant about decisions that went against them. These repeated actions saw him being removed from the game for the second time in three days.

After this explosive confrontation with Verlander early on, he was seen having a talk with the umpire regarding his namesake Alex Verdugo. The hitter was ejected from the game in the fourth innings which led to everyone being surprised. Cora would also try to talk it out but the decision was final. He would join the hitter later on as he was removed from the game in the seventh inning.

This is now the fifth time this season that Cora has been given his marching orders by the officials. Without one of their main hitter and manager, the Red Sox fall down to another crushing defeat. This has also taken a hit at their slim chances of making it to the postseason this year, Meanwhile, for the Astros, this was an important win as they go for the sweep of the Red Sox after they got swept by the Seattle Mariners.

The race has certainly got interesting in the AL West as both Mariners and Astros are joined by the Texas Rangers. Which team will take home the title is hard to predict as they are separated by one game from first to third.
