Gerard Pique and Shakira were one of the most popular and loved couples in the footballing community. Therefore, when the two announced their split back in 2022, it came as a shock to everyone. The former Barcelona defender and Champions League winner was accused of betraying his then partner by media outlets. The two decided to part ways in June 2022, and while Pique has found a new partner, Shakira has remained without one.
Following their split, Shakira has shifted her focus back to music and has produced multiple albums in recent years. Her latest work, titled ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’ translates to ‘Women no longer cry’. While appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, she did not hold back from taking digs at her ex-partner. She shifted the blame to Pique, claiming that he held her back from producing music.
I didn't have time because of the husband factor. Now I'm husbandless. Yeah, he was dragging me down and now I'm free. Now, I can actually work.Shakira on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon
She also took clear digs at Pique in multiple songs in her latest album, one of which she elaborated on at Jimmy Fallon’s show. Shakira said that the lyrics ‘Surely with time you’ll regret it’ was aimed at Pique.
Gerard Pique tells what Erling Haaland has to do to eclipse Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo
Erling Haaland has undoubtedly joined the list of players who could potentially ascend the throne after Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to be the best in the world. Many consider either Kylian Mbappe or Haaland to be the best in the world after Messi and Ronaldo.
Former Barcà defender Gerard Pique, while admitting that Haaland was one of the best in the game, did not get too carried away.
He's very young, promising and got potential. But I still think that he's far away from those two. He has to win so many titles and to do this for 15, 17 or 20 years is not easy.Gerard Pique told talkSPORT.com.
Having played with both Messi and Ronaldo, Pique would know what it takes to become the best. He himself is nothing shy of a top player, having won the FIFA World Cup with Spain and several League titles and Champions Leagues with FC Barcelona among others.
Pique also said that he had no doubt as to Messi being the best in the world. The 37-year-old played for Barcelona for 14 years and shared the locker room with Messi for 13 years.
