Take a look outside- no matter the weather, sometimes going out to eat feels like a pain. After all, dressing up, taking out the car, driving, ordering, waiting for the food, then taking it back to eat or eating it there feels like an unappealing maze of chores.
That’s why there’s Doordash. You can order food so that you can have a nice meal without having to step out of the house. However, sometimes the Doordash app can glitch, and as a result, you can left with the nightmare pickup-only option.
Doordash is showing the pickup-only option on their app because of technical errors. It’s advised to try to log out and then log in to correct the issue. If that doesn’t work, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the app after clearing the cache. Some think that the problem might be due to driver unavailability as well.
Why Is Doordash Pickup Only?
Recently, many were upset that the Doordash app was refusing delivery and had the Pickup option only for every place. But no one knew why it was showing that. Even the Twitter account @DoorDash_Help didn’t offer a clear explanation. The account only posted:
“We’re currently experiencing issues with the DoorDash platform. Please know that we’re doing everything possible to resolve this as quickly as possible. Thanks for your patience and for being a loyal DoorDash customer!”
Multiple things could have gone wrong with the app to get this bizarre error everywhere. But you could try doing the following to see if it resolves itself:
- First, log out of the account and force close the DoorDash app. Then start it again and log back in. This simple process might resolve your issues.
- If the first step doesn’t work, try clearing the cache and uninstalling the app. After this, reinstall the app again.
- Also, keep your browser up-to-date and use a private browser to order if possible.
However, it’s possible that a lack of drivers has affected Doordash and that the app is showing only a pickup option because there’s no one to deliver the food. Recently, DoorDash drivers went on a nationwide strike on July 31st, where they stopped using the app for the entire day.
Their demands included having a minimum base pay of $4.50. This is the amount that a driver earns on each order before getting a tip. They also wanted the company to let them see the tip amount of an order so that they could decide if it was worth it or not.
The workers said that since tips figured heavily into their earnings, they should be allowed to see which orders were worth it and which weren’t.
While nothing much has been reported on the strike, many people think that the drivers could be continuing the strike, and as a result, the app is showing the pickup-only option.
However, as per a Reddit post, it doesn’t look like the workers are on strike. Instead, it looks like an app issue. On the Doordash subreddit, one user commented:
“I can confirm as a dasher. I keep getting errors in the app even though they assigned me a delivery, and now I can’t access it. Waste of a drive to the resto.”
Some users are reporting that the issue has resolved itself. As such, the app is expected to function normally sooner rather than later.
What are your thoughts about Doordash showing the pickup-only option?
Are the errors with the Doordash app becoming too common? Was it because of the drivers’ strikes recently?
